GT_Oficeis a Japanese avant-garde music duo consisting of Goto Takayuki and Terashima Tamiya. They have been active since 2006, and have released five albums and one EP. Their music is difficult to categorize, but could be described as a mix of electronica, ambient, noise, and even traditional Japanese music. GT_Ofice ‘s goal is to create “a new type of music that has never been heard before.” In live performances, Goto Takayuki uses a variety of electronic devices, including laptops, synthesisers, and samplers. Terashima Tamiya plays the shamisen (a three-stringed traditional Japanese instrument) and also uses electronics. The two musicians are often joined by other performers on drums, percussion, or flute.
GT_Ofice ‘s first album, “1st One,” was released in 2006 on the independent label Dokidoki Records. It was followed by “2nd One” (2007), “3rd One” (2008), and “4th One” (2009). These four albums were later compiled into a box set entitled “The First Four Ones.” In 2010, GT_Ofice released their first EP, “5th One,” on the German label Staubgold. Their most recent album is “6th One” (2011).
